Tip Top Meats

One of our favorite things to do when we have guests visiting is to fire up the grill and eat at home. I'm not sure if Marc enjoys it more because he gets to use his grill or because it gives him an excuse to go to Tip Top Meats.

Tip Top Meats is a local European Delicatessen that has been open since 1967. The staff is very knowledgeable and the quality of meat is outstanding. When Marc goes he usually returns with way too much meat for the one meal that we are planning to have. But then again leftovers are definitely welcome in this house. This time me and my friends were sent on the Tip Top run. Somehow we came away with two sirloin steaks that weighed 3 pounds total. Still enough for leftovers.

For dinner we paired the steaks with roasted red and sweet potatoes, vegetable skewers and steamed broccoli. Plus we were able to enjoy some wine from the Santa Barbara wine region. Our guests brought a bottle of Justin Syrah (2008) and Palmina Barbera (2008). Both were absolutely delicious! And by being at home we were able to focus on conversation and catching up with our friends whom we hadn't seen for a year.
