1600 miles away . . .

. . . but Hollywood has still found me. Today in the zocalo they are filming Vantage Point a Sony Pictures Film to be released in 2007 starring Mathew Fox, Denis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver and Forest Whitaker amongst others. The premise of the movie is an attempted assassination of the president told from five different perspectives. Today they were filming the car chase after the attempted assassination. Without even knowing it I spent the afternoon in Salamanca, Spain. All of the street names have been changed for the movie, the zocalo is now known as the Plaza Mayor and is decorated with Spanish posters and signs advertising bull fights and the like. So far I haven't seen any famous actors but I hear they are in town. They will be filming here until Thursday in multiple locations around town, hopefully I'll catch a glimpse of Matthew Fox. But most likely, not.

Other films with scenes in Puebla include Man on Fire and Frida.

I tried to be an extra today but unfortunately I was missing the blood and couldn't understand the instructions coming from the microphone. But I did catch a glimpse of Denis Quaid and got to see a car crash. Woohoo!
